"Microsystems based on multi-functional material composites" (MS Multi Mat) ZIM collaborative network

(Kopie 3)

Project Leader: Prof. G. Ziegmann (Dr.Eng)

Funding period: 06/2015 – 05/2016
Funding body: BMWi represented by VDI/VDE-IT
Funding reference: 16KN053601

Contact partner: Dr. Tatjana Artys (Dr. rer. nat.)

The motivation for the foundation of the network are shared goals in the development and manufacture of microsystems technology products, whereby multi-functional material composites – in particular plastic-based – play a decisive role. Here the entire process chain from component construction to the planning of the tool, the production of the prototypes and small series production is considered. In addition, the design and further development of innovative processes and their application possibilities are considered. The network pools the competences and expertise of its partners from the fields of science and industry, in order to strengthen networking and thus the ability of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) to compete.

The members of the network currently include eight SMEs from all over Germany, three research institutions (including institutes of the TU Clausthal, the TU Braunschweig and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft) and two associations. The network management team consisting of three research associates is based in the Clausthal Centre for Material Technology. During the initial project phase, the team is taking on tasks such as network development and expansion, network coordination, the initiation of research and development projects, provision of support when drawing up applications for publicly funded research projects, and also the transition into the second phase (another two years).
